Saturday is National Trails Day, an annual get-outside event organized by the American Hiking Society. You can join a local event or get a group together and hit a trail. Lucky for us, Oʻahu has an abundance of trails, from treks along mountain ridges to leisurely walks through lush valleys. Hiking is a great opportunity to get your kids off the couch and explore the outdoors. Talk about the various plants, birds and weather conditions you encounter, sing songs or just enjoy the fresh air. It’s a great—and often free!—way to spend quality time together as a family. Here are several kid-friendly hikes you can try this weekend.

Indoor Face Coverings Required for 2022 Summer Fun Program

The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation’s Summer Fun Program is requiring indoor masking amid a two-month surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.

All keiki participating in the 2022 Honolulu summer fun programs, which start on Monday, June 6, will be required to wear masks while indoors or inside program vehicles or transportation, unless they are medically exempt from doing so.

Facial coverings are not required when outdoors (though kids can wear them voluntarily).

Contact the park staff at the Summer Fun Site where you registered to inquire about the refund if you chose to receive one. All of the most up-to-date information about Summer Fun, including the site contact information, can be found at the official, dedicated website: bit.ly/summerfunoahu
