Where to Find Pasta: Fresh Box’s New Online Market Delivers to Your Door

While dried pasta may be slowly returning to grocery shelves after panic buying, if you need a pasta fix, look to Fresh Box’s newly launched market, which includes delivered-to-your-door products from Onda Pasta and other local makers. Onda Pasta offers familiar favorites including spaghetti and penne, as well as malfadine, its frilly, ruffled edges great at catching meaty bits of sauce. Pair pasta with Onda’s vegan pomodoro, ragu or a creamy and sweet corn pesto (kind of like a smooth corn chowder) for a quick meal ($6 for 8 ounces of pasta and sauce $7 for 12 ounces).

My other favorite pick on Fresh Box’s market is Hi Five ‘Ulu’s ‘ulu waffle batter ($7). I first discovered these crisp and light waffles, speckled with finely minced ‘ulu and flax seeds, at Banán, where I ordered it topped with liliko‘i banana soft serve. I returned home to find a container of this batter in front of my door, courtesy of Fresh Box. It was my lucky ‘ulu day, and I made myself waffles for my next two meals.

The waffle batter is not gluten free, but Fresh Box also offers ‘Ulu and Kalo’s cookies and granola, which are. Other offerings at Fresh Box include ‘Ohana Jam’s calamansi marmalade ($8), Madre Chocolate cacao fruit leather ($10) and Ho Farms’ pickles ($10). Oh, and 640 ounces of hand sanitizer ($150) by Hāli‘imaile Distilling Co. Because that’s our new normal.
