We’re Obsessed With These Items in T Galleria by DFS’ New All-Local Beauty Shop

Oh, and did we mention that everything in the shop is tax-free?
Island Beauty

Shopping local is our jam. Nothing makes us feel all the feels quite like scoring a kickass buy that supports a local maker—insert heart-eyes emoji, sparkles emoji, dancing girl emoji.

But tracking down our favorite local beauty products isn’t always easy. It can mean trekking to a craft fair here, a pop-up market there, a tiny local boutique on the opposite coast waaaay over there.

So, we’re super stoked about the opening of T Galleria by DFS’ new Island Beauty boutique. Located on the Waikīkī department store’s second level, the gorgeous little shop has been decked out with tons of lush greenery, rustic fixtures and even a monstera-patterned photo wall.

You’ll find fresh releases and best-sellers from Ola Tropical Apothecary, O‘o Hawai‘i, Lanikai Bath & Body, Ali‘i Kula Lavender, Maui Organics and Island Essence. And Island Beauty is the only store to carry the complete lines of Hanalei, Mamalani and Little Hands Hawai‘i. On top of all that, since T Galleria is a DFS store, all Island Beauty products are tax-free and eligible for a 5 percent kama‘āina discount (it just can’t be combined with other promos) with a valid state ID—suh-weet!

O‘o Hawai‘i Birdseed Detoxifying Face Scrub

This exfoliating scrub boasts some of the most exotic ingredients we’ve seen in a long time, including sapphire crystals, pearl powder and volcanic rock (sourced from outside the Islands) minus synthetic binding agents and colors. The mix polishes skin and removes toxins while improving circulation and blood flow, keys to a gorgeous, glowy complexion.

$95 for 5.2 ounces.

Mamalani Lōhaki Body Powder

To deal with the changes in her body chemistry that happened after having kids, Mamalani founder Mele Kalama-Kingma tapped into her experience as a cultural nutritionist (translation: plant medicine expert) to whip up natural, moisture-absorbing body powders using locally sourced and organic ingredients. Our favorite, the Lōkahi Body Powder has a delicate lavender-grapefruit scent and does double duty as a chemical-free deodorant.

$16 for 2 ounces.

Hanalei Lip Treatment in Rose

HanaleiWe’re already fans of Hanalei’s sister company, local makeup label Elizabeth Mott, so we were excited to give its lineup a try. Topping our list (and pouts) is its ultra-hydrating Lip Treatment in Rose. Packaged in a cute matte pink tube, the moisturizing balm features antioxidant-rich agave, grapeseed oil and shea butter along with a pretty pink hue.

$20 for 0.53 ounces.

Little Hands Hawai‘i Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Little Hands

Designed to protect both the ocean and your skin, this creamy mineral sunscreen is made from organic elements such as natural zinc oxide, water-wicking beeswax and antibacterial myrrh. Stock up on both the regular and tinted SPF 35 tins in a special 3-ounce size made just for T Galleria by DFS.

$22 for 3 ounces.

Ola Tropical Apothecary ‘Āina Serum

Ola Tropical Apothecary

Potent serums are all the rage right now, so we were curious to see how this local spin stacked up. The ‘Āina Serum, crafted for normal skin, combines nourishing aloe vera and avocado oil with rejuvenating fruit seed oils with anti-inflammatory ‘ōlena extract. There’s also a version for oily skin, infused with acne-fighting hibiscus and guava extracts, and one for sensitive skin, loaded with collagen-boosting coffee bean extract.

Pua Sensitive Skin Serum, $61 for 1 ounces, ‘Āina Normal Skin Serum for 1 ounces, $59, Kai Oily Skin Serum, $73 for 1 ounces.

Island Essence Hawai‘i Lavender Peppermint Hand Cleansing Spray

Island Essence

We love this as an alternative to the overly astringent, overly perfumed (not everyone wants to smell like a cupcake all day) hand sanitizers that have flooded the market. Wonderfully light with hints of lavender and peppermint, the secret to this Maui-made spray is its simple ingredients: distilled water, alcohol and soothing organic aloe vera, vitamin E and lavender and peppermint essential oils.

$9 for 2-ounce.

Lanikai Bath & Body Bar Soap

Built around nourishing coconut, kukui nut and macadamia oils, this handcrafted soap is a great shower staple and we can’t get enough of the new packaging Lanikai Bath & Body rolled out for its T Galleria by DFS debut, which includes a cute cursive “aloha” stamped right into the bar.

Guava, Pīkake, Pineapple, Lanikai Beach soaps, $9.50 each.
