Just opened

Kimukatsu, a Japanese restaurant chain specializing in katsu with 25 layers of thinly sliced pork.

Adega, a Portuguese and Brazilian restaurant, opened about a month ago, but a full food menu started only recently. It includes a lunch buffet for $12.99 and Portuguese dishes like bacalhua, or codfish.

Opening soon

The Whole Ox, a deli by Bob McGee formerly of Apartment3 and 12th Ave Grill, opens March 28.

Real A Gastropub, billed as a high-end craft beer bar and restaurant will take the place of Tropics Cafe Bar and Lounge space in Ward Warehouse. Troy Terorotua, formerly beer specialist of Whole Foods Kahala, will take over the kitchen. The menu hasn't been finalized yet, but expect beer-friendly food (such as a duck confit corn dog) and beer as a featured ingredient in food (think oatmeal stout brined Cornish hen). The target opening is May.

Cactus Bistro, a Latin American bistro by John Memering, formerly chef of Kalapawai Cafe, originally slated to open late 2011, is on track to open at the end of March/April. Cuisines represented include Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Central and South American.
