Light Up Kailua NiteRun and block party

On Saturday, October 11, as the sun sets in Kailua, racers dressed in costume are expected to trek across the wetlands of Kawai Nui Marsh, lit by LED lights, glowsticks and headlamps.
The Light Up Kailua NiteRun, a family-friendly 5K run/walk, takes place along Hawaii’s largest wetland, with all proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii – Windward.
After the race, there will be a post-race celebration in conjunction with the Cool Kailua Nights block party and health awareness fair, featuring food, beverages, vendors and live music from Roothub, Erika Elona, Paul Izak, The Deadbeats, Jerome James and DJ Jenr8r. Cool Kailua Nights typically draws about 10,000 attendees; last year, the event raised more than $40,000 for Castle Medical Center and the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii – Windward.
You don’t need to be an athlete to win prizes in this race. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- Best Costume
- Best Group Team Costume
- Best Parent-Child Costume Combo
- Best-Lit Participant
- Best Finish Line Dance
- Best Kailua Spirit
Registration is $55 ($10 discount available with military, student or HGEA ID) and includes a nifty headlamp to help light your way to the finish.
