Kawaii Kravings: 3 Must-Get Drinks at Cowcow’s Tea in Kaimukī
Part 2 of our cute and tasty series takes us to a sweet spot known for the color purple.
Kawaii Kravings is a sugar-rush journey into O‘ahu’s world of delicious, Instagrammable sweets.
Honolulu is teeming with boba tea shops. My current favorite? Cowcow’s Tea on Waialae Avenue in Kaimukī. This popular spot holds tons of memories for me and my friends: We usually end up here at the end of a search for a refreshing and cold beverage on a hot summer day, because for us dessert isn’t an option, it’s a must. And Cowcow’s photo-worthy backdrops, scattered around the shop, have us stopping to snap cute pics with our drinks every time.

The only problem is I’m always full of anticipation of going in, eager to peruse the menu for a new discovery, only to fall back on my tried and true go-to orders. These drinks are too good not to get: Taro Purple Rice Yogurt, Cowcow’s best-seller ($6.25); Strawberry Yogurt ($6.25), and Pineapple Green Tea ($5.75) with sweet pineapple chunks contrasting with the classic green tea flavor. Unlike most boba shops in Honolulu, Cowcow’s is known for rice yogurt drinks. They come in a variety of flavors, with the rice adding a different depth and texture than what you’re used to with typical boba tea drinks. Open Sunday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., 3620 Waialae Ave., (808) 888-0708, @cowcowstea
