A small crowd turned out for Saturday’s grand opening of the Kaka’ako Makai Marketplace at the Kakaako Makai Gateway Park (Ilalo and Ahui streets). A number of food and other vendors were on hand, along with live entertainers. The marketplace — now open on Fridays from 4:30-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. —is a sustainable and green marketplace that sells locally produced foods and goods. Vendors are not allowed to sell or use GMO products, Styrofoam and non-biodegrable plastics.
