New stationery shop opens

We've been obsessed with Miemiko Atelier since we featured the local stationery company in our 2010 Best of Honolulu issue. Now, we're thrilled to see owner Cari Nakanishi set up shop permanently in Ward Centre. Stop by any day of the week to find specially chosen pens, adorable pouches and, of course, letterpress designs.

Sealove Hawaii's vantique

It's a van and a boutique, all rolled into one! Owner Cortney Thomas stocks everything from local swimwear line Paradiso Hawaii to Australian apparel company Three of Something, as well as beach quilts, hair accessories and jewelry, and roams the island's beaches looking for shoppers. Forget what they said about getting into vans with strangers—the candy in this one is too good to pass up. The Sealove vantique can also be booked for private functions.

The Hive co-working space

The former Maya Bella boutique transformed into a members-only co-working space, called The Hive, for cross-industry idea pollination in Kailua. But fans of Maya Bella aren't losing out—the boutique is now a "roaming runway" with pop-up events, the next of which takes place from noon to 4 p.m. on May 31.
