Letter writing is a dying art, and it’s time we elevated the form a bit. Cari Nakanishi, owner of Miemiko Atelier, runs an antique letterpress in her garage, creating custom-printed letterhead, greeting cards, invitations, journals and even sheets of wrapping paper. “We do everything in house, and when I say ‘we’ I mean ‘me,’” she says. “I have to hand-feed each card in one by one. It’s a little bit more of a labor of love.” Her paper products aren’t cheap, but you’ll be able to see exactly where your money went. Contact Nakanishi through her website, miemiko.com. Ready-made Miemiko designs can also be found in select boutiques around town, including the Wedding Café and the Cupcake Boutique at Ward.
