The last time I was at Hy’s Steak House was in January to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The eight of us dressed up, ordered wine by the bottle, oohed and aahed when a waiter began his tableside Caesar salad service, and lived our bougiest lives for an evening. That’s the kind of place Hy’s is—a no-slippahs-allowed, desserts-flambéed-tableside, special occasion place you go when you feel like being extra.

With Mother’s Day coming up on May 10, we have just barely over a week to figure out how the heck to make this day special while under lockdown. Well, Hy’s has not one, but three options to give thanks to your mama.

Hy’s Steak House

Hy’s Mother’s Day Tenderloin Dinner ($200) – A dinner for five that includes Hy’s Kona coffee-crusted tenderloin grilled rare over kiawe, truffle demi-glace, cheesy biscuits, mixed greens, seasonal vegetable medley and country-smashed potatoes. Hy’s sneaks in a few extra touches for Mom, as well: Hy’s chocolate truffles, a keiki coloring Mother’s Day card and a custom QR code for Spotify Mother’s Day playlist. Select a pickup time when you place your order (online or by phone).

“Mom”umental Bundle of Joy ($119) – Raise your hand if your mom loves wine. Let’s be honest, being a mom is one tough job, and she deserves that nighttime glass or two of red. You can help replenish her stock (or prep her for a few more weeks of lockdown) with “Mom”umental Bundle of Joy, which includes six surprise bottles of sparkling, rosé and white wine, all hand-selected by Taro Kurobe, Hy’s advanced sommelier. Orders can be placed by phone.

Hy’s Bellini Bag ($35) – A cocktail originating from Venice, Italy, a Bellini is made with Prosecco and peach nectar or purée. Like a mimosa, it’s typically served in a Champagne flute. But since those don’t travel well, Hy’s will be offering its version of the cocktail in a reusable wine bag.

Mother’s Day aside, Hy’s kitchens are still open for takeout from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for those times you want to treat yourself or someone else. You can view Hy’s Steak House menu online, which also lists USDA Prime raw steaks you can purchase to season and cook yourself, as well as other offerings from sister Waikīkī restaurants Quiora and La Vie.

Orders can be placed by phone at 808-922-5555, or online at glionathome.com, for pickup or delivery through Elite Delivery Services, which was just launched on Tuesday. If you want your order delivered, you’ll need to place it 12–24 hours in advance, and it will cost you a flat fee of $10, or complimentary if your order is $200 or more. Currently, Hy’s delivery option is limited to these zip codes: 96813, 96814, 96815, 96816, 96817, 96826 and 96822.
