Gen Korean BBQ Beats Hunger With Award-Winning AYCE

(Sponsored) This 2021 Hale ‘Aina Award winner shines with Asian fusion flavors, unlimited eats and up to 37 dishes to order.

Those unfamiliar with Korean barbecue might not understand its appeal (“Why would I go somewhere and pay to cook my own dinner?”), but those us who know, know. Sitting over a grill with a few friends, taking turns eating and flipping the meats, drinking soju and making lettuce wraps personalized to your taste—Korean barbecue is just as much about the experience as it is about the food. OK, even if you need to grill it yourself and go home smelling like a bonfire.

When you’re in the mood for some sizzling food, Gen Korean BBQ has you covered. The chain, which won Silver for Best Yakiniku/Korean BBQ in the 2021 Hale ‘Aina Awards, offers Asian fusion flavors, an incredible variety of premium marinated meats and sauces and an all-you-can-eat experience. Gen (pronounced like the first syllable in “generation”) has a lunch menu from Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which includes 29 items to choose from. From 3 p.m. to close Monday through Thursday, and all day Friday through Sunday, guests can order from 37 menu items. With lunch priced at $19.95 and dinner at $28.95 for AYCE, it’s a satisfying option, especially if you come hungry, that won’t break the bank.

Gen has two locations—one in Ala Moana Center and one in Pearlridge Center—and offers a full bar experience with monthly specials, such as the Corona Selzerita bucket, new beers on tap monthly, cocktails and soju, including its newest flavor, Melona.
