For foodies, giving back tastes even better when food is involved.

The 23rd Annual Finance Factors Charity Breakfast is coming up this Friday, July 20, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at Finance Factors Center on Bishop Street. All proceeds from the $6 plates of scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage and rice will benefit Kahauiki Village, an affordable housing community for homeless families.

Kahauiki Village is a public-private partnership development between the City and County of Honolulu, the State of Hawaii and the nonprofit aio Foundation, the foundation of Frolic Hawaii’s parent company. Its mission is to provide affordable housing to qualified homeless families, as well as employment opportunities within walking distance. Located next to Nimitz Highway, the Village site is designed as a small, plantation-style community with one- and two-bedroom homes, affordable childcare and preschool services. Continued work on transforming Kahauiki Village lines up directly with aio Foundation’s mission to give young individuals the knowledge and skills to be community-minded and self-sustaining, and to create a positive impact on the islands for generations to come.

You can come to 1164 Bishop St. early this Friday for the $6 breakfast plates (presale tickets are sold out), but it’s first come, first served. If you want a guaranteed breakfast, your best bet is to show up before 7:30 a.m.
