Eat the Street: Eat Local

Thousands of eaters turned out for this month’s Eat the Street, which celebrated Hawaii’s locally grown foods and capped off Kanu Hawaii’s Eat Local Challenge. All 39 food trucks and vendors prepared at least one dish that included a locally grown or raised ingredient, resulting in lots of fresh, healthy and innovative dishes.

ETS: Local starts off at 4 with a small, mellow crowd and builds up to a big, bustling night. Local meats, fish, fruits and veggies are out in force, and the tourist component is stepping up. Word is getting out, people! By the end of the night, ETS organizer Poni Askew puts the crowd estimate at 5,000.
