Fashion

Lei ChicAllison Izu Denim

Jeans shopping usually means two stops – at the store then to the tailor. Allison Izu makes sure your denim escapades really measure up with her line designed just for the petite. Hundreds of women threw a fit (in a good way) when she launched in 2008. Now after a short break for some personal family time she is back with a brand new collection that will be available for presale only at our boutique.

See our article on Allison Izu here.

Lei ChicCassandra Rull
Cassandra Rull is anything but a newbie on the fashion scene in Hawaii. But now that she’s finished her degree at University of Hawaii-Manoa (congratulations!) she’s pouring her passion, full time, into her line of fun, sexy clothes that go from the beach to the club in a split second.

See our article on Cassandra here.

Lei Chic Honi Honi Swim/Little Wings
The girls at Wings Hawaii on Maui do everything: jewelry, clothing, accessories. But their adorable Honi Honi Swimwear line really caught our attention when it launched last year. The mix-and-match bikinis in playful prints were only available on the Valley Isle (sob) until designer Samantha Howard took her togs online in May. See it in person in our boutique, as well as Wings Hawaii's new line for your little one, Little Wings.

Lei Chic Lynn Sakutori
She worked at Kenneth Cole in New York and is now the one woman design powerhouse behind Lauryn M. and Lauryn M. Petites. But Lynn Sakutori also has her own self-named line of stylish work wear. We discovered Lynn when she was creating her chic silk line (which she will be selling at blowout prices) but her new collection, created just for our pop-up boutique, features work-ready separates with special details – think a close-cut knit cardigan with a swooping curved hem instead of a corner near the pocket or comfy crop pants with a tulip hem.

Read more about Lynn in our article here.

Lei Chic Martinique Resort
When the work is done, Jodi Salmonson wants you to start thinking about a vacation – and she has just the wardrobe for it. Martinique Resort Wear is a line of infinitely packable and playful mix-and-match pieces that will make you feel like you're taking a break even if you're just running errands at home. Think reversible, convertible, but always chic.

See our article on Martinique Resort Wear here.

Lei ChicNuinani
There are days you just don't want to dress up. Those are the days for Nuinani. The organic and recycled t-shirt line just popped up in June with cushy, sleek, short sleeve hoodies, light tees and more all featuring with designs by brothers and artists Adam and Ben Worrell. The super affordable comfy casuals (starting at $24) come with a cause – 5 percent goes to the Childrens World Hunger Fund.

Meet Nuinani here.

Lei ChicPosh Pua
You want to look sexy but don't want the surf to wash your teeny bikini away. Julie Stone understands. The girl who grew up on Kailua Beach started creating her own stay-put suits 10 years ago for herself, then her family and friends, and finally for local boutiques in 2008. Now she works out of Paia, Maui and every piece is designed and made in Hawaii.

Meet Posh Pua here.

Lei ChicUmee
Deena White Tearney is the IT person we all wish we had. A wiz at computer systems , she was a style setter at heart, so it was only natural that she launch Umee in 2006 with work-spins on Hawaii classics like aloha-print-lined shirtdresses and a chic play on the “little black muumuu”. Deena covers everything from skirts to shorts, dresses to bridesmaid dresses.

Jewelry

Lei Chic B D'Angelo
Marissa Wiedemann went right from FDIM to her design studio – and a whole crowd of Hawaii fashionistas are thankful for that! The brass, sterling silver, feather, and bead pieces that she casts and solders in her home studio go from bold and edgy to delicate, but are always unexpected. Marissa is quietly working on line of wood pieces that take B D'Angelo in a whole new direction. See it in our boutique.

Lei Chic CDSO Designs
You can get big ideas in the Big Apple, but New York sculptor Chad Durgan really found his inspiration with a move to Maui. The result, is wearable  urban art with an island edge – a swirling tako design that's striking as a cuff or ring, lava recreated in concrete and mounted in sterling silver, and so much more. CDSO is bold but beautiful and makes no apologies for not blending in.

See more about CDSO Designs here.

Lei Chic Jasmine Honey Designs
You may know her for her Haute Rock Couture. But Jasmine Bustamante has been creating jewelry on the side for years. Now she's focusing on her bold, nature inspired necklaces, earrings, and wrap bracelets. We first were enticed by her freeform gemstone bangles, but wait until you see her pieces carved out of geodes.
And as a bonus, Jasmine will be offering boutique shoppers some of her Haute Rock Couture's sexy dresses, skirts, and even her new coral maxi at deep discounts.

Read Lei Chic's article on Jasmine and Haute Rock Couture.

Lei Chic Kara Maresca
Sometimes a shell is not just a shell – sometimes it's a Kara Maresca design. The North Shore designer only sells her swinging semi-precious stone earrings, sleek hammered silver swirl earrings, and sunrise shell necklaces at the Farmers Market. We've pursuaded her to come to town so you can grab your own piece of beachy glam without hitting the freeway.

Lei Chic Zsuzsa B. Designs
This was one of our first discoveries when we started Lei Chic in 2007 and you can see her delicate gemstone, wire-wrapped pieces are timeless. Zsuzsa is a busy mom, so her gorgeous jewelry only comes out once a year at a popular craft fair. Fortunately for us (and for you!) Zsuzsa will be bringing her lariat style gemstone drop necklaces, hoops, and bracelets out for a special sale in our boutique.

Accessories

Lei Chic Guava Shop
Full disclosure – I own this very clutch which means I've gotten used to answering "where did you get that?" Kai Cost and Liz Lerner, the owners of Guava Shop wanted to do their own bag line for a while. When their soft leather clutches arrived in vibrant color combos, their customers were not disappointed. They're bringing in a whole new round of their bags in new fun colors just for our boutique.

Learn more about Guava's clutches here.

Lei Chic Jana Lam
Jana never aspired to be a handbag designer. Her passion during college in the bay area was textiles. Jana's self-named line mixes both beautifully featuring patterns she designs and silk screens on to fabrics that are turned into totes, clutches, and adorable wallets. It's not just purses she has in the bag – we love the lamb embellished (get it?) onesies that until recently only her friends were fortunate enough to get. She will be selling them in our boutique!

Read more about Jana and her adorable children's line here.

Lei Chic Treehouse Designs
Crowds at the Made in Hawaii festival fell in love with a line of patterned, reversible bags handmade in Maui. We actually have had a girl crush on Shannon Peck's collection since we wrote about Treehouse Designs last fall. Shannon mixes bold patterns with quietly chic microsuede fabrics for both sides of your personality. She says she is bursting with ideas for her Lei Chic line. We can't wait!

Beauty

Lei Chic Cherbu
We don't wear wool in the fall. We don't change our clocks twice a year. There are a few things people on the mainland just don't understand about Hawaii life. When it comes to your makeup routine, those cosmetics brands don't seem to know what it's like to sweat through your look before noon. Award-winning makeup artist Cheryl J. De Presbiteres does. Her Cherbu line offers humidity-friendly cosmetics that are also hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, fragrance-free, and did we mention that it's just plain pretty?

Read more about Cherbu here.

Lei Chic LashCard
The concept sounds simple; a curved card you use between your lash and lid when you put on mascara. But believe us, you'll be surprised by how much it can help. Former New York fashion insider Alice Kim spent a lot of time on research and development to make sure her sturdy, absorbent LashCard would be just what you need to keep your mascara addiction from giving you a black eye. That's probably why heavyweights like Henri Bendel's on Manhattan's 5th Avenue have snapped it up. Now you can too, for a discounted price.

Read more about LashCard here.

And that's definitely not all. Check back often for more updated lists of designers and local businesses, more on the eat and drink treats coming your way, and the full details on your won't-want-to-miss shopping pass.
