Pow Wow Hawaii 2012
Pow Wow Hawaii is on! The week-long celebration of urban art takes over Kakaako and the rest of Honolulu for the remainder of this week, with mural painting, a panel discussion, an after-party and luau. Headed up by Jasper Wong and his crew, the huge, collaborative art event allows spectators to see the process of creating art and interact with artists.
Check out our dedicated Pow Wow channel for photos, interviews, a calendar of events and more!
The big event not to miss, though is the huge party on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 6-10 p.m. at Fresh Cafe, where all the artists will gather to paint, sculpt and create, then participate in a “black out” session in which many of the pieces created for the event will be painted over to reinforce the importance of the artistic process. Catch a Day Job? photo exhibition and the Arkitip pop up shop opening, too.
The main party is followed by an after-party at NextDoor, starting at 10:30 p.m. Cover is $10, $5 with a Pow Wow pin and free with a Pow Wow shirt.
