Cali runaround: SAN

After San Francisco, then L.A., the last stop of my trip was San Diego, which holds a special place in my heart. Not only do I have family and friends there (like Chanelle, my best friend since 1st grade), but I think it’s the West Coast city most like Hawaii. Chanelle’s family is like my second family, and when I’m at their house, I feel like I never left the islands.

San Diego also has some of the best Mexican food around. People debate which area in California makes it best, but you can’t get any closer to Mexico than San Diego (let alone Chula Vista, where my best friend lives), so you can’t get any more authentic than that. I got to try a new Mexican spot and a new ramen place in what I call “karaoke-mecca” (because in that specific area, there are tons of late-night karaoke places). I also just HAD to hit my favorite spots around my old playground, Downtown SD.

Scroll through to see what I did during my stay in San Diego:

Trust me when I say Chanelle and I have eaten at a lot of Mexican places in Diego. After a late night in L.A., she brought me to a new spot, TJ Oyster Bar. Yeah, the name threw me off a little. LOL.
