Riffing on its previous owner’s concept, the locally owned Kūhiō Ave Food Hall, which took over the former The Street Food Hall space last year, houses a variety of different casual dining restaurants with dishes that focus on taste, quality and reasonable price points. Three restaurants are currently open: Aloha Pizzeria, serving fresh-made pies; Banzai Burger, with a diner-style menu that specializes in juicy gourmet smash burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and more; and La Piña Cantina, which offers delicious Mexican eats, Taco Tuesday deals, all-day drink specials and live music on select nights. The space has three bars as well, including the Tipsy Tiki, an Island-themed bar featuring tropical cocktails and other libations. A new concept, Hashi & Spoon, is slated to open soon, with others to follow. Online ordering is also available for those on the go.

White Claw summer is a trend that’s here to stay. And, since summer is a year-round season celebrated here in the Islands, you have every reason to pop a can with your meal. My personal favorite to pair with an ice-cold White Claw with is the Waimea Burger, a towering smash burger with two beef patties, bacon, cheese, sautéed onions and a secret Banzai sauce. You’ll need two hands and a ton of napkins, but, boy, does it satisfy after a sunny day at the beach.
