Feb. 17 kicks off the Year of the Fire Horse, a once-in-60-year occurrence that deserves special feasting. Whether it’s gau (prosperity, togetherness), jai (compassion) or a full spread you’re after, you’ll find special foods at eateries around the island. While the occasion has been mostly associated with Chinese culture in Hawai‘i, others, including Vietnamese and Korean, celebrate the Lunar New Year as well, so keep an eye out for a multitude of limited-time treats.
