A Store to Settle
Noelani Studios opens retail store in Haleiwa
As the saying goes: when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Or, better yet, build your own lemonade stand.
Case in point: When Noelani Love was told to vacate her North Shore studio (the property was in escrow), she decided to open her own retail store in the heart of Haleiwa town.
The new Noelani Studios - in the old Pizza Hut space across from the U.S. Post Office - is certainly bright. Drink in freshly painted mint walls and a repurposed cash wrap made from local shower trees. Framed earring displays and reclaimed branches showcase Noelani Designs' entire jewelry collection while a small Wizard of Oz-like window relays custom orders to the back workroom.
The zest part? The store also carries special finds by Love's close friends: Tiare Hawaii's flowing caftans, handcrafted soaps from The Indigenous Soap Company, whale- and heart-shaped cutting boards by FoundWood Frames & Furniture's Jennifer Homcy, Teas of Hawaii's coffee cherry tea, and Homemade by Husak's chai tea lip balm.
Don't miss Love's hand-painted jewelry frames adorned with sand, shells and lace, a sale tray by the register (we spotted gorgeous teardrop hoop earrings for up to 50 percent off), and, if you're lucky, a greeting from Zephyr, the store manager's adorable golden retriever.
Love is planning to expand even more by bringing in new lines and building out the rest of the 1,500-square-foot space - though what she has in store, we're not at liberty to say.
Don't look so sour. We'll let you know when it's ready.
Noelani Studios boutique and yoga studio is open Mondays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at 66-437 Kamehameha Hwy. For more information, call (808) 389-3709 or visit NoelaniStudios.com. For more store photos, click here.
