When I started working from home five months ago, I imagined a new life full of productivity, multitasking and more time.

Nope. I (and, I imagine, many others sheltering in place) quickly discovered that moving your office next to the kitchen doesn’t necessarily mean daily homecooked meals will become a thing. But sometimes you just want a fresh, delicious homecooked meal … that you don’t have to cook yourself. Is that too much to ask?

Dean & DeLuca, the New York-based upscale market with a location in Waikīkī’s Ritz Carlton, says no. Early in July, it debuted the Aloha ‘Āina Fresh Box, a Hawai‘i-only promotion featuring gourmet meals made with local ingredients. The best part? Dishes are fully cooked—just follow the warming instruction and you’ve got yourself a better-than-homemade dinner that feeds four and supports our local agricultural industry.

Meal kits are rotated weekly and range from $30 to $48 each. This week’s is $40 and includes four servings each of baked onaga with crab and Portuguese sweet bread stuffing, wild bamboo rice pilaf, portobello mushrooms and ‘ulu caprese salad. Starting on Monday, Aug. 10, the Aloha ‘Āina Fresh Box of the week will switch to lavender seated snapper with ‘ulu tzatziki, risotto ala Milanese, and Ho Farms tomatoes with ogo and grilled portobello mushrooms for $48.

Customers may order meal kits using Dean & DeLuca Hawai‘i’s online form (for an extra $20, you’ll also have the option to buy a bottle of wine from D&D’s exclusive collection). Pickup times are Tuesdays through Saturdays between 3 to 5 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton.
