What’s Closed or Canceled in Honolulu Due to Hurricane Ana
Honolulu organizers are canceling events as Hurricane approaches the Islands. Here’s a list of all the cancellations and closures in Honolulu.

Expect canceled events and suspension of city and state services on Friday, Oct. 17, as well as over the weekend, as the effects of Hurricane Ana—potentially heavy rains, high winds and flash flooding—are expected to reach Honolulu Friday evening and last through the weekend.

Community Events

Bank of Hawai‘i Family Sunday at the Honolulu Museum of Art has been canceled.

Street Grindz and Kamehameha Schools are canceling the Saturday, Oct. 18 Honolulu Night Market.

In addition, The Pig and the Lady pop-up dinner at Honolulu Night Market has been canceled.

The Heroes of Aloha Charity Event is being moved from the Waikīkī Shell to the Blaisdell Arena, Saturday, Oct. 18, with doors opening at 4.30 p.m. All presale tickets will be honored at the Blaisdell Arena. No exchanges of tickets necessary.

BayFest–scheduled for Oct. 17 through 19–has been canceled. Pre-purchased tickets will be refunded. For refund information, call Information, Tickets and Tours at 254-7563. Visit bayfesthawaii.com for updates and information.

The Department of Parks and Recreation’s 26th Annual Talk Story Festival is postponed until Nov. 7 and 8, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night at McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Regional Park.

Saturday’s planned multi-beach cleanup on Leeward O‘ahu has been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date. The cleanup was to begin Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Depot’s Beach Park in Nanakuli and continue on to Ulehawa, Nanakuli Beach Park, Zabland Beach Park, and Black Rock.

The Free Keiki ID event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pearl Kai McDonald’s is canceled.

The Haleiwa Jodo Mission YBA Craft Fair scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18 will be postponed to the following Saturday, Oct. 25, 9 am – 2 pm.

The 11th Annual Kaimukī Clean-Up is re-scheduled from Saturday, Oct. 18 to Saturday, Nov. 8.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) Vocational Rehabilitation Division (DVR) Ho‘opono Rehabilitation Center for the Blind is cancelling the Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 White Cane Safety Awareness Day Walk on O‘ahu.

The third annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival “Westside Style,” originally scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19, has been rescheduled to Sunday, Nov. 2.

Easter Seals Hawai‘i’s Kapolei location is canceling its benefit concert, ‘Aha Mele, that was supposed to be held Saturday, Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The concert has been rescheduled for Nov. 8 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with new band additions.

The Department of Environmental Services Storm Water Quality Branch has canceled both the Pearl Harbor Bike Path and Chinatown cleanups this Saturday.

The Muolaulani Foundation and Hawai‘i Theatre Center have rescheduled HULIAU 2014… WE DANCE NOW to Oct. 26. The Hawai‘i Theatre Box Office will be closed from 5 p.m. this Friday until Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., when the box office will resume normal hours.

The Friends of Lyon Arboretum fundraiser on Oct. 19 has been re-scheduled for early November.

Special Olympics Hawai‘i is canceling Central/Honolulu Bowling Singles, Leeward Bowling Singles, the O‘ahu Regional Basketball tournament and the Young Athletes program. O‘ahu Basketball tournament is re-scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 9 at Kamehameha Schools.

“Make Your Own Apron Craft Workshop” featuring the Lei Ilima Club at ‘Āina Haina Public Library, scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

“Spooky Hawai‘i Tales” featuring storyteller Dann Seki at McCully-Mō‘ili‘ili Public Library, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. (program rescheduled to Saturday, Nov. 1 at 10:30 a.m.)

“Music of Japan” featuring Darin Miyashiro (koto) and David Amann (shakuhachi) at Hawaii State Library, scheduled for noon.

The Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) schedule has changed, with the following games moved to Oct. 17: St. Francis vs. ‘Iolani (3:15 p.m.), Damien vs. Pac-Five (5:30 p.m.), Saint Louis vs. Kamehameha (8:15 p.m.).

The O‘ahu Interscholastic Association has announced that the Kaiser vs. Mililani and the Wai‘anae vs. Farrington football games have been moved to Oct. 17. The Radford vs. Pearl City and Kalani vs. Nanakuli games have been pushed back to next weekend.
