Vegas Eats: Bacchanal Buffet at Caesar’s Palace
Prior to my Las Vegas visit last week, a friend told me about Bacchanal, a new buffet at Caesar’s Palace. I looked up the definition of “bacchanal” and learned it meant a drunken and riotous celebration, a food orgy if you will. So of course I had to try this latest offering in the Vegas buffet scene to see if it lived up to its name. We tried to go for dinner, but after being told the wait would be two hours, we went back a later day for lunch. The lunch buffet costs $27, but I could have received a $3 discount if I had a Caesar’s rewards card, which I unfortunately didn’t.
Having just opened in early September, I expected hiccups. But I was surprised to see everything running smoothly. Food was replenished regularly, so if something I wanted to try ran out during one of my trips, it would be there the next time. The customer service was also excellent. As soon as you enter the restaurant, a hostess asks you if you’ve been there before. If you haven’t, someone will personally show you around the restaurant and explain the different food stations. That was a nice touch, considering how much there was to take in. And even though I was seated in a back corner, waiters came by regularly to take away my dirty dishes and refill my drink. I was even thanked for dining at Bacchanal by at least three workers as I left. Now that’s great service.
