In August, the Kahala celebrates Julia Child's 100th birthday with a series of dinners (with the premiere event benefiting the James Beard Foundation and featuring a "surprise French chef"), French cooking classes, and special menus in all its restaurants, including Better with Butter breakfast buffets and afternoon tea, and a late night Parisian Pleasures menu in The Veranda lounge.

The Joy of Sake returns July 20, this time in a new venue, the Pier 2 Cruise Terminal, hopefully lessening the crush of the sake-thirsty crowd. This event, the largest sake tasting held outside of Japan, will offer over 300 sakes as well as tastings from Hawaii restaurants.
$80 in advance/$90 at the door, Friday, July 20, from 6:30 – 9 p.m., joyofsake.com
