The deadline to register for the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation (formerly the Hale Aina Ohana) golf tournament is this Sunday, March 25. The tournament funds culinary education workshops to benefit Hawaii’s culinary schools and helps bring in guest chefs—most recently, Joanne Chang. After the tournament, stay for the awards banquet featuring restaurants such as Alan Wong's and Morimoto Waikiki.

There are still a few spots at Daniel Skurnick’s pop-up at Prima. Skurnick was most recently pastry chef at Morimoto Waikiki, but worked as a savory chef under Tom Colicchio at Gramercy Tavern and had stints at Bouley Restaurant, Jean Georges and the River Cafe. Part of the five course menu: a beef tartare with chile, mint and tendon; raviolo with pohole, smoked ricotta and jamon; a traditional baba au rhum; and not-so-traditional chocolate, caramel, salt and potato dessert.

This month’s Munch, a dinner and cocktail pairing at Apartment3, features Korean fare, brand new takes on bi bim bap, kal bi and pan chan, enhanced with cocktails by mixologist Joey Gottesman.

The annual Hawaii Foodbank fundraiser is coming up. Some of the restaurants participating include SALT, 12th Ave Grill, Sansei, Himalayan Kitchen and Chai’s Island Bistro. The venue is inside the Hawaii Foodbank warehouse, the one time a year it opens its doors to the public.

Streetgrindz, the organizer behind Eat the Street, is launching a series of pop-up restaurants showcasing food truck chefs. The first features Youssef Dakroub, owner of Xtreme Tacos, for “Arabian Nights,” complete with belly dancers, hookah lounge and a five-course menu. Expect falafel, shish tawook (chicken marinated in yogurt and spices) and Lebanese moussaka.
