The Splash Bar at Sheraton Princess Ka‘iulani made a bold entrance to the Hale ‘Aina awards with a Gold for Best Bar Food. Its menu of larger-than-life bar snacks and equally large roster of tiki-inspired cocktails set you up for a full day by the pool. Don’t forget your shades and sunscreen.
We’re hit immediately with The Sheet Pan, a literal baking sheet mounded with finger-licking pūpū: loaded kalua pig nachos, furikake garlic chicken wings and the crispiest salt-and-vinegar chicharrones, ever. It feeds an army, so get one for the whole cabana to share. The Sheet Pan also goes well with the extra boozy Left on Kānekapolei, a sharable volcano cocktail that’ll make the rest of the day melt away.
If you find yourself at the Splash Bar for lunch, the pork banh mi and soba noodle salad are our picks to start. The charred bits of grilled pork and pickled veggies are our favorite parts of the loaded sandwich, while the tangy dressing on the huge soba noodle salad is right on point. We couldn’t stop slurping up the seaweed salad and crunchy cucumbers.
Round out the meal with a moist lemon olive oil cake and sink back into your chair. Another round of drinks, perhaps? It’s a must when you’re grinding the Best Bites at the Splash Bar.
