The Lupus Hawaii wine festival

Last night, InsideOut Hawaii editor Stacy Yuen Hernandez and I went to the Lupus Hawaii wine festival, an evening of grazing and sipping at the Hawaii Prince Hotel. The annual event benefits Lupus Hawaii, an organization that offers assistance to those who are affected by this debilitating disease.

Lupus Hawaii President Cheryl Ann Jong has had this all of her life, and although I knew her in high school, I would never have known it. She’s vibrant and cheerful, and aside from the wheelchair she’s now in, you wouldn’t know she has such an autoimmune disease.

We spent a lot of time chatting, so I didn’t get too many photos, but here are some things we ate and people we saw:
