There are some things you're just not cut out for.
Astrophysics. Bungee jumping. Spotting hidden objects in a Magic Eye illusion (hey, those thing are hard).
But snapping up a gorgeous, locally designed outfit? That's right up your alley, especially when The Cut Collective rolls out the first of its spring releases at a special trunk show and sale this Saturday.
You may have heard of the new shared workspace/manufacturing hybrid dedicated to supporting quality, Hawaii-made fashion. Come Saturday, you can experience it in person when designers and Collective co-founders Allison Izu, Summer Shiigi, Rumi Murakami and Maida Montemayor open up their Manoa workshop to unveil their lines' spring releases.
Sneak a peek at these new finds in part one of our exclusive preview.
Ten Tomorrow
Stylist (and Lei Chic contributor) Summer Shiigi has been working on her line Ten Tomorrow since October, but this Saturday marks the first installment of her official launch: a spring capsule collection filled with fashion-forward work and street wear. For her initial release, Shiigi used her eye as a stylist to put modern spins on retro silhouettes – think a sleek, Studio 54-inspired white jersey jumpsuit with a sexy, straight leg or a Jackie O-esque suit set with an asymmetrical hem, tulip skirt and chic gold brocade. Plus, be on the lookout for your new weekend wardrobe staple, a scoop-neck lavender gray T-shirt dress with pockets. Why Ten Tomorrow? Shiigi says it's short for "Meet me at 10 (a.m.) tomorrow," when she's the most creative. For inquiries, email contact@tentomorrow.com.

Allison Izu
The petite designer and busy mom-of-two has perfected the art of looking chic and comfy. Case in point: Her new Sunset capri sweat pant, which made an appearance at our HONOLULU Fashion Week launch party, is actually stylish enough for public view. And, thanks to customer requests, Izu is debuting her first-ever Waikiki jegging, complete with mid-rise waistline and pockets, and a thick, double-knit pant in skinny and straight-leg cuts (the comfy, wrinkle-free fabric is perfect for traveling). If that wasn't enough, Saturday will be your first chance to shop AI Hawaii, Izu's new, limited-edition capsule collection incorporating vintage aloha prints into fun, flirty shorts and figure-flattering tops. Trunk show special: Buy $100 or more to get 20 percent off, buy $160 or more to get 30 percent off. For more information, visit AllisonIzu.com.
