It’s no secret we love Taste Tea’s boba milk teas (they won for Best Pearl Milk Tea in our Best of Honolulu 2014). Now you can order the popular flavored drinks blended with ice and even try a new dessert in the store’s recently updated interior.

Unlike the regular drinks, you won’t get to try samples of the blended drinks. It’ll cost $4.25 for a large honeydew, strawberry, taro, coconut, pudding, almond or chocolate blended drink. If you’re feeling adventurous, try new flavors such as molten tapioca milk, matcha latte, taro 2.0, fruity pebbles, pickled mango, chocolate coconut milk tea or chocolate pudding milk tea. Add azuki beans, pineapple chunks, chia seeds, lychee jelly or taro chunks for 50 cents each.

We stuck with the most popular blended drink: honeydew. If you’re a fan of Taste Tea’s regular honeydew flavored milk tea made with a powdered mix, you’ll love this blended version to keep you cool. However, if you prefer real fruit instead of the powdered stuff, you won’t be a fan of the strong aftertaste this drink produces.

For dessert, we ordered the new boba milk tea waffle, which arrived about 15 minutes after we placed the order on a busy weekend. After the long wait, we dug into the waffle baked with bobas and topped with milk tea cream sauce, powdered sugar and a handful of tapioca pearls. The milk tea cream sauce tastes more like the milk froth on your coffee. The sauce just drenched the waffle, turning it into a soggy and spongy mess. We’d much prefer a light drizzle of honey or syrup on our waffles. About the only part we enjoyed was the crispy, untouched edges.

$3.50, $4.25, $4.50 for blended flavored drinks, $5.50 for boba milk tea waffle (buy a boba milk tea waffle and get a drink for 50 percent off), 1391 Kapi‘olani Blvd., Suite 105, 951-8288
