Stocking Stuffers

Please indulge us, it’s alumni month for our books department. First, I Can Has Cheezburger? (Gotham Books, New York, $10). If you’ve spent any time on the Internet, you’ve seen at least one LOLcat cartoon—invariably, a snapshot of a housecat doing something cute/odd/deranged, embellished with a deliberately misspelled caption, as if the cat itself wrote the joke. This book contains more than 200 LOLcat pictures collected from around the world by the Web site, www.icanhascheezburger.com. Co-founder of that site? Kari Unebasami, HONOLULU’s first Web editor.

Second, for the holiday season, former HONOLULU art director Michel V.M. Lê has illustrated The Hawaii Snowman, a new children’s book written by his wife, Christine Lê. Yes, it’s as cute as it sounds. (Mutual Publishing, Honolulu, $14.95.)
