Something new: Juic’d Life

A new cold-pressed juice shop opens Monday at Kakaako’s Salt complex, just across from Hank’s Haute Dogs and just in time for the long, warm days of summer. That means free samples of Juic’d Life’s organic juices and 10 percent off everything on June 6, including salads and acai bowls.

A 16 oz. cold-pressed juice is $9. Two to four pounds of fruit goes into making each bottle of juice.

The cold-pressed juices are bottled and come in a dozen varieties. Detox Flush, for example, has apple, burdock, turmeric, ginger, lemon and cayenne. Plus there’s fresh, made-to-order juice as well.

Juic'd Life is located on the second floor of the SALT complex at Our Kakaako kitty corner from Hank's Haute Dogs.

Owner Shannon Benedict and her son Jaguar plan to add more offerings in coming weeks, like vegan protein cookies, energy balls and alkaline water.

In addition to juice, you can customize your own 20 oz. bowl ($8.50) starting with regular acai, acai with greens (kale and spinach), acai with rice protein or prickly pear and top it off with any number of fruits or toppings including dates, bee pollen, chia seeds, granola and more.

We got an early sampling of a number of the bottled cold-press juices. My favorite is the one with apple, cinnamon and vanilla bean. It’s called the Delicious and tastes like apple pie.

If you're looking for a healthy and substantial meal, the create your own salad option offers many delicious options. For $10.50 you can choose between spinach, kale and romaine, then add fresh veggies, quinoa, fruits and beans and then top it all off with nuts, seeds and either a citrus coconut vinaigrette or balsamic dressing.
