Something new: Juic’d Life

A new cold-pressed juice shop opens Monday at Kakaako’s Salt complex, just across from Hank’s Haute Dogs and just in time for the long, warm days of summer. That means free samples of Juic’d Life’s organic juices and 10 percent off everything on June 6, including salads and acai bowls.
The cold-pressed juices are bottled and come in a dozen varieties. Detox Flush, for example, has apple, burdock, turmeric, ginger, lemon and cayenne. Plus there’s fresh, made-to-order juice as well.
Owner Shannon Benedict and her son Jaguar plan to add more offerings in coming weeks, like vegan protein cookies, energy balls and alkaline water.

Customized 20 oz. acai bowls ($8.50) include choices of acai with kale, spinach, rice protein or prickly pear and toppings ranging from fruits, dates and bee pollen to chia seeds and granola.
We got an early sampling of a number of the bottled cold-press juices. My favorite is the one with apple, cinnamon and vanilla bean. It’s called the Delicious and tastes like apple pie.

For $10.50 you can create your own salad from choices like spinach, kale, romaine, fresh veggies, quinoa, fruits, beans, nuts and seeds topped with a citrus coconut vinaigrette or balsamic dressing.
If you’re not familiar with Salt, it’s on the block between Coral and Keawe, Auahi Street and Ala Moana Boulevard. You can park in the lot fronting Highway Inn and Starbucks on Ala Moana or in the new parking structure on Keawe Street.
