Something new: IKEA in Las Vegas

Where do you absolutely have to visit when vacationing in Las Vegas? Trader Joe’s? Bacchanal Buffet at Caesar’s Palace? The Bellagio fountain show? No matter what you fancy, there’s now another mandatory stop to add to your list: IKEA just opened in Sin City on May 18.
Not familiar with IKEA? The Swedish company is known for modern, affordable inventory, and it’s the world’s number one furniture retailer. Imagine if Bed Bath & Beyond and Inspiration got drunk one night, did the humpty hump and had their baby delivered in Costco. That’s IKEA.
And like the rest of Las Vegas, it’s over the top. The outlet is 351,000 square feet. That’s more than double the size of Costco Iwilei. IKEA’s opening day giveaways included couches, mattresses and a year’s worth of their famous Swedish meatballs.
I visited the furniture mecca on opening weekend. It was of course super crowded but I didn’t let that discourage me from spending a few hours checking out all the goods. I’m telling you, there’s nothing this store doesn’t have. As a newly married and domesticated man, I’m proud to share that I love shopping for household items. I seriously do. At IKEA, you’ll find everything you need for your home, at great prices no less, plus you can grab a cheap bite to eat.

Here’s the side order of IKEA’s famous Swedish meatballs. Only $1. The verdict? Delikat! (Delicious!)
I fell in love with IKEA and badly want one in Hawaii. In the meantime, I know where I’m heading for my next furniture and meatball fix.
