Something new: Cinnamon’s at the Ilikai

The popular Kailua breakfast spot, Cinnamon’s, quietly opened a second Oahu location in the Ilikai Hotel in Waikiki, meaning townies no longer have to trek over the Pali to indulge in the eatery’s famous guava chiffon pancakes, loco moco or eggs benedict.
The Waikiki location features al fresco dining overlooking the ocean, a full bar and indoor seating. The interior is still under renovation in preparation for a November grand opening. The menu is small as the staff gets trained, but still features many favorites from the original location. And just a note: red velvet pancakes are not yet on the menu, but coming soon.
I invited some friends to join me for brunch and sampled the food at the new Cinnamon’s.

New to the Cinnamon’s menu is the beef stew loco moco ($10.75). It’s a hearty combination of carrots, celery, potatoes and tender beef poured over rice and topped with two eggs. The beef stew is well seasoned, and I like eggs on top of pretty much anything. This dish works for me and I’d definitely order it again.
