Soft zigzag prints highlight Gaya's spring collection
The Finished Lines

Putting together a stylish ensemble is a lot like walking a tightrope – it's all about balance. As in: balance a casual outfit with a striking statement necklace or a monochromatic look with different textures.
Or, in the case of Gaya's new collection, a strong zigzag print with soft, muted colors.
For spring, the North Shore-based resort line helmed by owner Lula Leao and designer (and fiance) Monika Reimann ventures into graphic territory with bold lines and sharp angles. But its colors are decidedly more subtle – purple and magenta, bluish green and lemon yellow, bronze and gray. Reimann says the collection is inspired by new beginnings, the bloom of print and color.
The prints pair well with the collection's flowy fabrics, a combination of jersey and woven rayon designed to skim the body, and are refreshingly versatile – beautiful on a floaty sundress for the beach, a classic wrap dress at work or a lace-accented maxi on date night. Line details are also reflected in the intricate lattice-backed tank and trimmings of a fitted tee.
This winning combination befits a duo well versed in balancing acts – Leao is an avid surfer from Brazil who also owns a surfwear line, while Reimann, who hails from East Germany, splits her time between Honolulu and Bali, where Gaya is manufactured.
Consider us fans of epic proportions.
