Social media star and professional dancer Mark Kanemura recently released his first book, I Am a Rainbow!, inspired by his own childhood growing up in Honolulu. The book, ideal for keiki 4 to 8 years old, is a relatable, real-life story that’s all about embracing self-acceptance—so it can be read and enjoyed by everyone.
The main character, Mark, loves to entertain, sing, dress up and dance, but sometimes his passions get him teased at school. To convince him to continue shining his light to make the world a better place, Mark’s loving and supportive parents buy him a colorful cape to wear. It works, and he once again celebrates his uniqueness by wearing it all over Honolulu, making friends along the way. Unfortunately, the cape goes missing, and Mark has to find a way to get his confidence back.

“I Am a Rainbow! is dedicated to anyone who has ever felt lonely or danced to the beat of their own drum!” Kanemura says. “I hope that through this story, children and the inner child within all of us will feel seen, accepted, loved and celebrated!”
