Preview: Pixar’s New Short Features Lovesick Hawaiian Volcano, Uku
Get a first look at Pixar’s new animated short film.
Pixar recently released a preview of its new animated short film called Lava, about an adorable lovesick Hawaiian volcano named Uku (it’d be weird to be named after the tiny pest). Uku croons: “I wish that the earth, sea, the sky up above will send me someone to love.” We have to admit, volcanoes are usually scary and unpredictable forces of nature (cue: the lava flow currently advancing towards Puna). But this animated short makes volcanoes like Uku seem lovable and harmless. We hope Uku gets the volcano (princess?) of his dreams, too!
Director James Murphy told Disney Insider that he found inspiration for Lava, after honeymooning in Hawaii. This musical love story is set to debut in full with the feature film, Inside Out on June 19. We can’t wait! In the meantime, take a look at this adorable clip.
