Party pics: ‘Tributes’ by Pancho Abalos
Painter and illustrator Pancho Abalos (@PanchoAbalos) is showcasing his latest work and 13 guest artists from Waianae, Nanakuli, Kapolei, Waipahu and James Campbell high schools in an exhibit called “Tributes” at ING Direct Cafe in Waikiki. He opened the four-week exhibit last night with a reception featuring the students, a silent auction, raffle, sounds by DJYogurt (@DJyogurt) and emcee Fernando Pacheco (@Fernrocks).
Abalo’s work pays homage to and flips the script on the popular art of the Edo period. All art, including the students’ creative works, are available for purchase unless otherwise stated. All proceeds benefit the Hawaii Arts Alliance, a statewide 501(c)(3), non-profit organization committed to championing art education in Hawaii’s schools.
