Couples and singles alike came out to the annual Motown Valentine’s concert at Republik on Friday, hosted by local sexy blues/rock band Kings of Spade. The first part of the night was a big-band tribute to classic Motown artists like The Supremes, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, with special guest vocalists and The Bentos, followed by a set by Kings of Spade and local entertainers, including hula-hoopist Beth, bellydancer Natalie Phoenix, roller skater Hot Wheels and poledancer Pamela Poles, which was the highlight of the evening. Jookbox City closed out the night. The show also doubled as a CD release party for Kings of Spade’s second, self-titled album.

Here’s Nonstop contributor Kate Greennagel’s interview with Kasi Nunes, the band’s lead singer
