Our Top 5 Dishes from Foodland’s HONOLULU Restaurant Week Special Menus
Partner Content From a paired whiskey experience to a chicken caesar sando with hand-cut potato chips, these ‘ono dishes have us excited for HONOLULU Restaurant Week.
By the time you read this, HONOLULU Restaurant Week 2025 is in full swing. Of the more than 60 participating restaurants, four of the eateries are inside and part of Hawai‘i’s favorite grocery stores, Foodland. To those who shop at Foodland, this means the restaurant’s offerings, just like the store’s offerings, are attuned to each location. It’s also why we’re so excited to share Our Top 5 picks from their special menus offered now through Nov. 16.
No. 5: Steak Frites at The Bar by R. Field Wine Company
This French bistro classic calls us to pull up a chair at The Bar. For $25, you get a 12 ounce Angus beef New York striploin prepared to order with a pile of crisp herby brown butter frites and a punchy aioli. The strong flavors beg for a glass of red wine, and we think an Old World pick from Bordeaux’s Château Cantenac-Brown makes for a harmonious pairing.
No. 4: Ho Family Farms Tomato at et al.
Don’t let the simplicity this humble dinner-time dish belie the complexity of flavors that erupt in your mouth. A well of crème fraiche and Meredith feta creates a neutral base for sweet local cherry tomatoes that get a jolt of flavor with salty lap cheong crumble, and a fresh shiso bagna cauda drizzle. This is an unexpectedly delicious surprise for $16 and we’re all about it.
No. 3: Whiskey Experience at ELEVEN
ELEVEN, the whiskey bar tucked behind the checkout stands at Foodland Farms Ala Moana, is a fantastic place to start or end the night. This week, their $35 Whiskey Experience is a delicious ride of flavors with a flight of three whiskies and bites to match. You get a mix of Japanese, Kentucky and Irish whiskies with varying degrees of oak and treatment with exquisite bites. You just can’t go wrong.
No. 2: Chicken Caesar Sando at et al.
Just imagine a giant crouton stuffed with morsels of chicken, dressed romaine and sun dried tomatoes. That’s et al.’s $18 brunch-time chicken caesar sando, but we almost like the hand-cut potato chips that come with it even more. They’re just so satisfyingly crunchy and salted.
No. 1: Whole Dungeness Crab at Mahi‘ai Table
This dish sums up everything we love about HONOLULU Restaurant Week. It’s a whole crab, it’s easy to share and it’s a fair price at $58, which also includes a meaty fried rice and a flavorful green. For townies, this one’s worth the drive out to Kapolei if you’ve never checked out Mahi‘ai Table, now’s the perfect time.
