New Pop-up Restaurant: Plancha

Bob McGee, formerly of Apartment3 and 12th Ave Grill, finally has a kitchen to call his own … well, sort of. It’s on loan, for his pop-up restaurant, Plancha. But the menu is all his, and it showcases McGee’s current obsession with flavors developed on a high-heat, flat-top griddle (or plancha).
His first menu starts next week and runs on September 5, 6, 7 (Monday is already sold out).
The menu, which may be subject to some slight tweaking, will include beets on the plancha with Naked Cow Dairy fresh cheese, piperade en cazuela with polenta and topped with a quail egg, akule on the plancha, and clafoutis with surinam cherries and vanilla bean gelato.
The rest of the details:
– Dinner starts at 8 p.m. at Morning Glass Coffee and Café, 2955 East Manoa Road (McGee’s operation, however, is independent of Morning Glass)
– $45, cash only
– BYOB
– Reservations required, call Mcgee at 457-0997
McGee plans on changing the menu every week and serving every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday for an indefinite period of time (such is the nature of pop-ups!). Check his blog planchahonolulu.blogspot.com for updates.
