Tropics Tap House

If you’ve missed Tropics, Ward’s former live music haven and spot for ‘ono grinds, rejoice: They’re back! The old crew — headed up by owner Pat Kashani, general manager and co-owner Jason Silveria and a few other partners — have found a new home at the University mainstay formerly known as Magoo’s, and previously known as Varsity. The new Tropics Tap House has been open for about a month, and staff reports that they’re waiting on their live music license to have a grand opening.

But for now, the operation is solid, building on the reputation the spot has as a college hangout and adding more than 50 craft beers, a regular live music schedule, daily happy hours, well-balanced cocktails and beer cocktails crafted by Silveria, big screens to watch sports and a food menu that brings a gourmet twist to your regular bar food, like creative sliders and house-made fries.
