New eats: Kiss My Grits

A taste of the South at Puck’s Alley

Picture 1 of 18

Traditional Southern cuisine is hardly standard fare in Honolulu. So when Kiss My Grits opened three months ago in Puck’s Alley, lots of curious eaters were eager for a taste of down-home fried chicken, crab cakes, chopped BBQ, Po Boys and more.

I’m no expert in Southern cuisine, but after spending a few years in both Texas and Northern Florida (not far from the Georgia border), I warmed to the hearty meals, BBQ and fried everything that’s ubiquitous throughout the South. Kiss My Grits topped my must-try list.
