My Oscar Predictions
Need some help filling out your office pool for the Oscars this Sunday? Does anyone even still do office pools for the Oscars? Well, look no further because I present my predictions for the eight major categories. As usual, Oscar’s tendency to spread the wealth makes predicting who will win what very difficult, but I believe the following choices will come out to be pretty accurate.
Here’s a look at my picks.
Best Adapted Screenplay
“Before Midnight”
“Captain Phillips”
“Philomena”
“12 Years a Slave”
“The Wolf of Wall Street”
In recent years the Academy has shared the wealth among top films by handing out consolation prizes to those that won’t win Best Picture. The Best Screenplay awards are usually where they reward films that were good, but not quite Best Picture material.
While it wasn’t the most tightly written film of the year and “The Wolf of Wall Street” definitely is a flashier pick, I predict that this is where “12 Years a Slave” will get one of its few awards.
Should Win: “The Wolf of Wall Street”
Will Win: “12 Years a Slave”
