Morning Glass arrives at R&D

R&D, the design bookstore/coffee shop/co-working space, has been open for a month, but the coffee has just arrived. Morning Glass is operating a little sliver of a coffee shop in the corner of R&D. It’s a pared down version of its cafe in Manoa, with Stumptown micro-roasted coffee as well as locally-roasted coffee brewed by the cup and a La Marazocco espresso machine that was handmade in Florence. “Great books, great ideas, great coffee,” says Morning Glass owner Eric Rose. “R&D seemed like a natural place to have great coffee.”
R&D also has an intriguing culinary book selection, including Rene Redzepi’s Noma, more of a lookbook of Noma, named the best restaurant in the world; Fat: an appreciation of a misunderstood ingredient; and David Chang’s Lucky Peach publication. Also, expect to see the six-volume ($600) Modernist Cuisine [http://modernistcuisine.com/] by Microsoft’s former CTO, Nathan Myhrvold.
