Tomorrow, New York will be abuzz with high fashion and runway shows. Sure, you might be watching wistfully from the sidelines (a.k.a. your computer monitor), but don't forget, you have your own designer event to attend this weekend.
As we mentioned yesterday, The Cut Collective co-founders are hosting a spring trunk show and sale. Here, we preview yet another line's spring releases.
Rumi Murakami
This Kahaluu designer loves polished, work-appropriate pieces with high-quality fabrics and clean, minimalist silhouettes, and this season is no different. For spring, Murakami uses a soft, midnight-squiggle-print rayon to create a breezy sundress, bias-cut top with mandarin collar and cap sleeves, and a beautifully draped shirttail hem skirt (hey, nothing wrong with channeling a little Angelina in the office – tastefully, of course). Our favorites? A notch collar vest with tailored seaming and hidden hook-and-eye closure to ensure a slim waistline, and a narrow tuxedo pant that spins menswear into a super sleek, feminine outfit. Look also for the launch of her white cotton shirt collection, a series of stylish takes on the ultimate workwear staple. Up first: two short-sleeved shirts (one with a faux collar, the other with rectangular inset details) that pair perfectly with other pieces in the collection. The Cut Collective's trunk show and sale takes place this Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at 2800 Woodlawn Dr., Suite 192. A Valentine's Day flash sale is planned for Friday, February 14, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., more details to come. For more information, email hello@thecutcollectivehi.com.
