Moonlight Yacht Party

Take part in a rare event this Friday, April 17, at FireWater’s Moonlight Yacht Party.  It will be held on the 160-foot Alii Kai catamaran with three decks of partying out at sea. This event only happens every few months and sells out every time, so if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, don’t wait.

The party starts at Pier 5 at Aloha Tower and the catamaran will take you on a cruise past Honolulu, Waikiki and Diamond Head.  The boat does not stop  (for those of you worried about getting sea sick) and believe it or not, FireWater promoter Paul Moor states that they haven’t had any issues with seasickness thus far. 

There will be two bands and two DJs, playing everything from rock covers to house to Top 40.  The bands include Soulution, winner of Mai Tai Bar’s Battle of the Bands and, 82 Fifty, winner of Best Rock Album in the Hawaii Music Awards and Na Hoku 2008 nominees. 

It’s a good local crowd, says Moor, with a big mix of ages.  “We want to offer Honolulu something different that somebody else isn’t doing,” Moor continued. 

Nobody else is doing it because apparently, putting something together like this is very tough—and, expensive.  The problems are finding a boat large enough to handle a large capacity and being able to charter it—not to mention adhering to the MARSEC rules and regulations. To me, this is all the more reason to take advantage of this Friday night’s yacht party.

Boarding is from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and it sails at 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.  And, if three hours of partying isn’t enough for you, then continue the revelry at Pearl Ultralounge, where you’ll get free entry with your FireWater stamp.  Keep in mind that the dress code at Pearl has become more strict than usual lately, so be careful on your wardrobe choices.  Men—that means dress shoes.
