Maui eats: RB Black Angus Steakhouse
Whenever I’m with Julie Yoneyama, we find ourselves looking for a good happy hour nearby. While on Maui, she showed me one of her favorite local spots, RB Black Angus Steakhouse.
It made me wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood, where the food is reasonable and tasty, and super chill so I can totally unwind. My most memorable dish was the onaga sashimi, not so much because it had exceptionally clean flavor, but because the bartender caught it and brought it in to work. You don’t see that kind of freshness much here on Oahu.

It’s not swanky, but it’s not a dive, either. If you want a wide variety of food and drink options in a mellow atmosphere, RB is a favorite with the Maui locals. Chef Raul Bermudez brings decades of serious culinary training under his belt to this Kahana restaurant.
