LA: Dinner and a tweetup at Bazaar

Prior to this trip, I had been poking around on Foodspotting.com and saw gorgeous photos of the tapas at The Bazaar by Jose Andres. I immediately messaged my Twitter friend D.K. Mashino and said, “We need to go here!”

The dinner ended up doubling as a tweetup for me, D.K., Honolulu foodie Holly Hadsell, and Los Angelinos Rimel Mangali and Roxanne Razo. In a place like this, the more the merrier!

The tapas menu is incredibly extensive, and you can spend  too much time just trying to decide what to have. We deferred to some friends’ recommendations, some of the waiter’s recommendations, and then just some gut instinct (like trying to order every foie gras item on the menu). I guess the best way to describe it is a gastronomic feast for the senses, since the presentation is clean and contemporary and the flavors of every dish are usually really intense. Somehow you get to taste every ingredient in every dish, yet they’re not heavy or obnoxious. It’s a real treat if you are ever in Los Angeles.

Warning: This blog is heavy on the food porn. I wanted to get a good shot of the interior, but the restaurant is so spread out and eclectic that it’s hard to get an image that best captures the true ambience.

The Bazaar is in Beverly Hills in the chic SLS Hotel. Amazingly, for such a posh place and location, their service and demeanor is very friendly and down to earth.

By the way, I didn’t include all the photos of everything we ate. Can you believe that? We ate more than all of this! Not all of my photos came out well, and some dishes looked boring in the photos.
