Father's Day (June 17) is never as big a deal at restaurants like Mother's Day is. But for those who want to give dad a break at the grill, treat him to any one of the following options:

All-you-can-eat lobster at Chai's Island Bistro: need we say more? For those not content to just stuff their face with shellfish, there will also be braised pork shank and Mongolian-style lamb chops.
$65 adult/$35 children, 585-0011, chaisislandbistro.com

There are two options at The Kahala: Hoku's Sunday brunch ($75 adults/$37.50 children) offers chilled lobster, oysters and shrimp, sushi and sashimi, butter-poached king crab legs, prime rib and New Zealand rack of lamb. Hoku's famous ahi poke musubi will also be made to order. At Plumeria Beach House, ($65 adult/$32.50 children), treat dad to either a brunch or dinner buffet. Brunch includes a seafood table, roast beef carved to order and an omelet station. Dinner features prime rib, rack of lamb, and a chocolate fountain with brownies and homemade marshmallows.

Dad just might want to get up early for brunch at the Pineapple Room, with action stations turning out oxtail, corned beef and short rib risotto; and carved Chinese roast duck and pork with bao. You'll also find rock shrimp tacos, mini duck and chestnut sausage loco mocos, cornmeal fried chicken, and braised pork belly with black bean clams. Over nine assorted desserts include chocolate dobash, Kula strawberry tiramisu, pineapple malasadas, mango cobbler and Waialua chocolate pudding.
