Jared Allen helps wounded warriors
At the Helping Heroes Hawaii Golf Tournament, held Saturday at Turtle Bay Resort, golfers played alongside a mix of professional athletes and business leaders for a great cause, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors. This organization was created to raise awareness and funds to build or modify the homes of wounded military veterans so the homes are handicap accessible.
Jared Allen, defensive end of the Minnesota Vikings, who is no stranger to Hawaii as he played at the Pro Bowl five times, said that after returning home from a USO trip to the Middle East, he was moved by the commitment and sacrifices soldiers make every day for our country. With family members having also served in the military, he started the organization to give back to wounded veterans. He’s looking forward to helping wounded veterans in Hawaii.
It’s always great to meet professional athletes who have a heart for the community. By the way, Allen shared that he loves loco moco and poke, oh yes, and he loves the people here and the aloha spirit too. To learn more about the organization visit jaredallen69inc.com
